Te mapa
Ogōri lies in southern Fukuoka Prefecture on the northern side of the Chikugo plain, between the larger cities of Kurume and Tosu. Since the late twentieth century it has grown as a commuter town, and the map shows neat residential areas spreading out between older villages and farmland.
Railway lines cross the city and set the direction of much of its growth, with station areas as small focal points. Around them, housing estates give way to rice fields, and irrigation ponds appear as small, rounded shapes of water. Low hills rise to the north, and the flat plain opens to the south.
The area has a long history. The remains of an ancient government office, the Ogōri Kanga site, have been studied as part of the early administration of the region. An Ogōri map poster connects the two eras: a modern commuter grid spread over farmland that has been settled for well over a thousand years.
Rail lines cross the city and tie it to Fukuoka and Kurume. Their long straight lines anchor the whole map.
Small ponds are scattered across the farmland and suburbs. They add soft, rounded water shapes among the straight streets.
Flat rice fields run south toward the Chikugo River, while the ground begins to rise to the north. The edge of the map changes quietly from one to the other.
