Te mapa
Ōizumimachi is a residential district in the north-western part of Nerima, one of Tokyo's special wards, near the border with Saitama Prefecture. From above, it shows the fine-grained pattern typical of outer Tokyo: narrow lanes, small housing blocks and irregular plots, broken by wider roads leading towards the city centre and the neighbouring suburbs.
Nerima is known for keeping farmland within the city, and in this area, small cultivated fields still appear between houses and apartment buildings. Nearby, the wider Ōizumi area is home to film and animation studios, which have given the district a quiet place in the history of Japanese cinema and anime.
An Ōizumimachi map poster shows a pattern that is dense but never uniform. Lanes branch and bend around old field boundaries, streams and parks, creating a mosaic of small shapes. Open plots and green spaces add lighter areas to the composition, a reminder that this part of Tokyo still bears traces of its rural past.
Narrow residential lanes twist between small blocks, following old field lines rather than a grid, and give the map a dense, intricate texture.
Cultivated fields remain among the houses, appearing as open shapes on the map and reflecting Nerima's long tradition of farming within the city.
The district sits close to the boundary with Saitama, where Tokyo's street pattern continues without interruption into the neighbouring municipalities.

Koteā ko Ōizumimachi
For residents, the district is defined by small, familiar routes: the walk to the station, a local shrine, a corner shop. A map of those lanes is a personal record of everyday Tokyo, far from the famous skyline.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, with an address or a date, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper suits the soft, organic lane pattern.
