Te mapa
Okuta is a town in Kwara State in western Nigeria, close to the border with the Republic of Benin. It lies in the savanna country of the Borgu area, where wide stretches of woodland, farmland and grassland separate the settlements. From above, the town appears as a gathering of compounds and lanes, with a few main routes extending outward into the surrounding landscape.
The street pattern is informal and organic, shaped by household compounds and the paths between them rather than by a planned grid. Farm plots begin close to the edge of town and continue in an irregular mosaic, interrupted by seasonal streams and patches of trees. Roads to other towns in the region provide the strongest lines on the page.
An Okuta map poster offers a restrained, honest picture of a savanna town. The centre forms a textured cluster of lanes, and the open land around it leaves plenty of white space, so the composition feels spacious and calm. It is a personal way to mark a place that rarely appears on printed maps of Nigeria.
Paths weave between household compounds, creating an irregular, finely detailed web at the centre of town that looks almost hand-drawn in black ink.
A few main roads lead away from Okuta towards neighbouring towns and the border area, giving the poster its clearest directional lines.
Farmland, grassland and wooded patches surround the town, broken by seasonal streams. On the poster they become open, lightly marked space around the town.
