Oleiros lies directly east of A Coruña in Galicia, occupying a peninsula between the ría of A Coruña and the open Atlantic, with the ría of Betanzos to the east. It is less a single town than a group of parishes and settlements, and from above its coastline is its most striking feature.
The shoreline alternates between sheltered sandy beaches, such as Santa Cristina facing the ría, and more exposed rocky stretches along the Atlantic coast. Inland, residential areas, older villages and pockets of farmland and woodland are connected by a network of winding roads.
