Te mapa
Olpe is the seat of its district in the southern Sauerland, a hilly and heavily forested part of North Rhine-Westphalia. The town grew where the Bigge and its side valleys meet, and on the map the streets follow those valleys. The result is an irregular, star-like shape, with roads curving to fit the slopes.
The most striking feature is water. Just to the north lies the Biggesee, one of the region's largest reservoirs, whose branching shoreline winds between the hills. Its shape, with long inlets and a crossing dam, makes an Olpe map poster unusually graphic: dense streets on one side, open water and forest on the other.
Olpe is an old Hanseatic town, and its compact centre on a slight rise still shows a medieval core within the later growth. The Sauerland motorways pass nearby, but the lasting impression from above is hills, woods and the lake.
The reservoir's many inlets form a long, branching outline among the hills, the boldest shape anywhere on the map.
Roads follow the valleys of the Bigge and its tributaries, so the town spreads outward in several fingers instead of a neat circle.
A small, tightly packed centre marks the historic Hanseatic town, clearly finer in grain than the newer districts around it.

Koteā ko Olpe
The poster suits Olpe locals, holidaymakers who return to the Biggesee each summer, and anyone who enjoys a map where water and hills do most of the drawing. The shoreline alone makes it a strong piece for a wall.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint and Noir bring the lake out especially well. The digital files cost $9.
