Te mapa
Orillia sits on a strip of land where Lake Simcoe narrows and flows north into Lake Couchiching. From above, the town's grid runs downhill towards the Couchiching shore, and the downtown streets end at a waterfront of parkland and marina. To the south, the Atherley Narrows form a thin channel between the two lakes, crossed by road and rail.
Those narrows are among the oldest human sites in Ontario. The Mnjikaning fish weirs, built by Indigenous peoples thousands of years ago, still lie in the channel. Later, the humorist Stephen Leacock spent his summers here, and Orillia became the model for Mariposa in his Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town. The Trent–Severn Waterway now passes through the same water.
An Orillia map poster is defined by its two lakes. Open water fills much of the frame, the narrows pull it into a waist, and the town's tidy blocks sit on the western shore with Mississaga Street running down to the waterfront. Few towns of this size have such a clear, readable shape.

The downtown grid runs east to a continuous lakeshore of park, beach and marina, giving the poster a long, soft edge where streets meet open water.
The historic canal route passes through Orillia's lakes on its way between Lake Ontario and Georgian Bay, linking this small town to a much larger waterway.

Koteā ko Orillia
Orillia is a place of summers, cottages and lake days, and many people carry it with them long after they move away. A map of its two lakes and waterfront grid is a calm, lasting reminder of those seasons, whether you grew up here or came back every July.
Set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example a cottage name or the year you first visited. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint makes the lakes especially striking.
