Te mapa
Thornhill sits just north of Toronto, with Steeles Avenue along its southern edge and Yonge Street running straight through its centre. That road is also a municipal boundary: the west side belongs to Vaughan and the east side to Markham. On a map the community looks like a single place joined by a long north–south spine, even though two different cities govern it.
The oldest part of Thornhill grew up on Yonge Street in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, around mills in the Don River valley. The village took its name from Benjamin Thorne, a local miller and merchant. A few historic streets survive near Yonge and Centre Street. On a map their irregular shapes stand apart from the curving crescents of later suburban development.
Branches of the Don River run through the area in wooded ravines, and parks and golf courses follow their course. A Thornhill map poster shows these green corridors cutting diagonally across the grid of old concession roads. It captures a place that belongs to a large metropolitan area and still has a character of its own.

Near Yonge Street and Centre Street, a small cluster of older, irregular streets marks the original village, which grew around mills in the Don River valley.
Branches of the Don River wind through wooded ravines lined with parks and trails. They add soft diagonal lines across the regular grid of suburban blocks.

Koteā ko Thornhill
Thornhill is a place of family homes, schools and long-established communities, and for many people it is simply where they grew up. A detailed map lets them see the streets they know in a new, graphic form.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a street name or the year you moved in, and choose from five styles. Noir and Blueprint bring out the grid, while Paper works well in a softer interior.
