Te mapa
Otukpa lies in the southern part of Benue State in central Nigeria, within Ogbadibo Local Government Area and the wider Idoma-speaking area. It is a market and farming town, and its map reflects that: a main road running through, with homesteads, compounds and smaller tracks spreading outward into cultivated land and scattered trees.
Settlement here tends to be dispersed rather than densely packed. Clusters of buildings gather along the road and near junctions, while the gaps between them are filled with farms growing yams, cassava and other crops typical of the Middle Belt. On the page this creates an open, organic pattern quite different from a planned city grid.
An Otukpa map poster gives shape to a place that rarely appears in printed atlases. The road network forms the backbone of the design, and the looser threads of local paths and village lanes fill in around it, producing a composition that feels grounded and specific to its own landscape.
The principal road through town carries most traffic and trade, forming the strongest line on the map and linking Otukpa with other towns in Benue and beyond.
Homesteads and family compounds spread along roads and tracks, creating small clusters that give the poster a scattered, rhythmic texture.
Narrow tracks lead from the town into the surrounding farms, forming a fine web of lines that fills the outer edges of the composition.
