Te mapa
Padang Besar sits on Malaysia's northern border with Thailand, and its map is shaped above all by that line. The town is known as a crossing point, both for road traffic and for the railway that links the Malaysian network with southern Thailand, and a Thai town of the same name lies directly on the other side of the frontier.
From above, the settlement is modest in size: a cluster of streets around the station and the border facilities, with roads reaching out toward the rest of northern Malaysia. The surrounding terrain is green and uneven, and low hills and plantations press close to the edges of town, so the built area reads as a small, concentrated patch within a wider rural landscape.
A Padang Besar map poster focuses on that compact meeting point of rail, road and border. It is a place many people pass through on journeys between the two countries, and its markets have long drawn shoppers from both sides. In black and white, the railway line becomes a clear spine running through the composition.

The Malaysian town faces a Thai settlement sharing the same name, so the frontier runs through what is effectively one small urban area split in two.
Low hills and cultivated land close in around the built-up area, leaving the streets as a small, dense cluster inside a quiet rural setting.

Koteā ko Padang Besar
Padang Besar means something to travellers who crossed the border here by train, to families who live on either side, and to anyone who knows the northern edge of the peninsula. A map poster turns a place of passage into something lasting.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps marking the date of a journey. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, as a $9 digital download or a printed poster.
