Te mapa
Paka lies on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, in the Dungun district of Terengganu, facing the South China Sea. The coastline is its defining feature. A long, straight beach runs along one side of the map, and the town sits just inland, where a river reaches the sea.
The main coastal road runs parallel to the shore and links Paka with the other towns along this part of Terengganu. Streets and kampung lanes branch off from it toward the beach and the land behind. Further inland, the town gives way to plantations, scrub and low ground crossed by streams.
The stretch of coast around Paka is also known for its energy industry, including a large power station, and the oil and gas centre of Kerteh lies a short distance to the north. A Paka map poster shows a narrow coastal town: sea on one side, rural land on the other and one long road holding it together.
A long, smooth shoreline runs along one edge of the map. It gives the poster a clean boundary and a strong sense of place.
A river reaches the sea at Paka, and its winding channel and estuary add a soft curve that breaks up the straight line of the coast.
The east coast road runs parallel to the beach through the town. It is the spine that the streets and kampung lanes are built along.

Koteā ko Paka
For people from Paka, or those who have worked along this stretch of the Terengganu coast, the meeting of beach, river and road is a familiar outline. On a wall it reads as both a map and a picture of the sea.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family name or a date, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Print it yourself from the $9 files, or order a matte poster.
