Panoor Map Poster & Print
Panoor lies in Kannur district in northern Kerala, a short way inland from the coast at Thalassery. The map shows the typical pattern of the Malabar countryside. There is no sharp line between centre and edge. Houses spread continuously along roads that curve over low hills and dip into the valleys of small streams, with gardens and trees filling the gaps.
The town is a municipality and a commercial centre for the surrounding villages, with its market area where the main roads meet. Like much of northern Kerala, the area has a long tradition of migration to the Gulf states, and income from abroad has shaped much of the newer building on the hillsides.

Hill roads
Roads climb and descend over low laterite hills in constant curves. They give the map a branching, flowing texture with very few straight lines.
Stream valleys
Small streams run through the low ground between hills. Their valleys leave narrow, winding gaps in the street network that follow the lie of the land.
