Te mapa
Paoy Paet, often written Poipet, is in Banteay Meanchey province in northwestern Cambodia, at the country's busiest land crossing with Thailand. Across the border is the Thai town of Aranyaprathet. On a map, the frontier dominates: the main road runs straight towards the crossing, and the town is built up on both sides of it.
The town grew quickly around cross-border trade and the casinos built near the frontier, which draw visitors from Thailand. Markets, warehouses and transport yards cluster near the checkpoint, and newer residential streets spread out behind them. The railway connecting Cambodia with Thailand also passes through, giving the map a second long line alongside the road.
A Paoy Paet map poster shows a town organised around a single purpose, the passage between two countries. The border cuts the street network sharply, and the main road leads right up to it. It is a meaningful map for people who have worked here, traded across the crossing or passed through on the way between Bangkok and Siem Reap.
The international crossing with Aranyaprathet sits at the western end of town. On the map, the streets stop sharply at the frontier, making the border visible without labels.
The highway runs straight through town toward the crossing. Most of the densest building follows this line, giving Paoy Paet a long, linear shape.
The railway between Cambodia and Thailand crosses the town beside the road. Its gentle curves add a second long line through the grid.

Koteā ko Paoy Paet
For people who have lived or worked in Paoy Paet, or crossed the border here many times, the map is a record of an unusual kind of town. Its shape, stopping at a frontier, is distinctive even without landmarks.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line, so the poster can carry a name, a date or a route. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. It works as a personal reminder or a travel keepsake.
