Te mapa
Pasaje is in El Oro province in southern Ecuador, a short drive inland from Machala. It lies along the Jubones River, where the river leaves the Andean foothills and spreads across the lowlands toward the Pacific. On a map, the town is framed by the river on one side and extensive plantations on the other.
The surrounding land is part of one of the world's major banana-growing regions, and the plantations around Pasaje form long rectangular blocks crossed by irrigation channels and service roads. The town is the commercial and administrative centre for this farmland, and its streets follow a fairly regular grid around a central plaza.
The Jubones plays an important role in the landscape, bringing water from the highlands and sometimes flooding the lowlands. A Pasaje map poster shows the river's broad curve, the town's gridded core and the agricultural geometry beyond, and it captures the point where Ecuador's mountains meet its coast.
The river flows past the town on its way from the Andes to the Pacific and draws a wide, gently curving line across the map.
Large rectangular plantation blocks, divided by channels and farm tracks, fill the lowlands around Pasaje with a strong geometric pattern.
The town centre follows a regular grid around its main plaza, a compact and orderly core within the surrounding farmland.
