Police Map Poster & Print
Police lies just north of Szczecin in West Pomerania, on the west bank of the Oder where the river widens toward the Szczecin Lagoon. From above, the town sits between water and woodland. Residential estates line the ground above the river, and the large Wkrzańska Forest spreads to the west.
The town is known for its large chemical works, one of Poland's major fertiliser producers, which occupies a wide area by the river north of the centre. The site has a longer history: during the Second World War, the Germans built a synthetic fuel plant here, when the town was called Pölitz, and its ruins are still in the area.
