Te mapa
Pontevedra sits at the head of the Ría de Pontevedra in Galicia, where the Lérez River widens into a tidal estuary before reaching the Atlantic. From above, the river curves along the north side of the city, crossed by several bridges, while the old town forms a tight knot of irregular lanes and small granite squares on the southern bank.
The city is widely known for how it treats traffic. Since the late 1990s most of the centre has been pedestrianised, and cars have been pushed to the edges, which turned Pontevedra into a reference point for urban planners across Europe. The Portuguese Way of the Camino de Santiago also passes through, and the Peregrina church, built on a scallop-shell plan, greets walking pilgrims.
A Pontevedra map poster shows a historic core that has kept its medieval proportions, surrounded by a later ring of wider streets and newer districts. The estuary widens to the west, marshland and river islands appear upstream, and the shape of the ría gives the drawing a clear direction, pointing out toward the sea.
The river bends around the northern edge of the city and widens into the ría, its shoreline and bridges forming the strongest lines on the map.
The historic centre is a dense network of short, angled lanes opening into small plazas, a pattern that looks intricate and finely drawn at poster scale.
The Portuguese Way of the Camino de Santiago crosses the city on its way north, entering through the old town and leaving over the Lérez toward Santiago.

Koteā ko Pontevedra
Pontevedra suits anyone who has walked the Portuguese Camino, studied in Galicia, or simply enjoyed a city built at walking pace. The map keeps the old town, the river and the estuary together in a way a photograph rarely can.
Add a title, a subtitle such as the date you passed through, and the coordinates line. Then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, with Paper and Sand suiting the warm tones of Galician stone.
