Prince Edward Map Poster & Print
Prince Edward County sits on the north shore of Lake Ontario, almost entirely surrounded by water. On the map it looks like an irregular, many-armed shape. Long bays cut deeply into the land, peninsulas reach out into the lake, and the outline is so crooked that the shoreline is far longer than the county's width would suggest.
Its link to the mainland at the western end is cut by the Murray Canal, which technically makes the county an island. Picton is the main town, and smaller villages are scattered along country roads. Sandbanks Provincial Park on the lake side has some of the largest freshwater dunes in the world, and the county is now well known for its vineyards.

Sandbanks dunes
On the lake side, Sandbanks Provincial Park contains long beaches and large freshwater dunes. They appear as smooth arcs along the edge of the map.

At the western neck, a straight canal separates the county from the mainland. It is a clear, human-made line against the natural shapes of the shore.
