Te mapa
Puerto Real sits on the inner shore of the Bay of Cádiz in Andalusia, facing the city of Cádiz across the water. It was founded by the Catholic Monarchs in 1483 as a royal port, and the old centre still keeps a fairly regular street plan close to the shore. Around it, the map breaks into the winding channels and flat marshland typical of this bay.
The marshes and salt pans form part of the Bay of Cádiz Natural Park, and their outlines give the map an unusual, almost abstract quality. Puerto Real is also known for its shipyards on the bay and as the home of a major campus of the University of Cádiz near the Río San Pedro. Roads and bridges link the town across the water to Cádiz and San Fernando.
A Puerto Real map poster captures a rare combination: a historic town grid, large industrial docks and a labyrinth of tidal creeks. In monochrome, the marsh channels look almost hand-drawn. It suits alumni, shipyard workers, families from the bay and anyone who loves maps where water and land blur together.
Tidal creeks and old salt pans cover the land around town in winding, branching shapes. They are the most striking and delicate part of the poster.
Close to the shore, the old town keeps an orderly grid of streets dating from its founding as a royal port. It sits compactly against the bay.
Large industrial docks along the bay and the university campus near the Río San Pedro form broad, distinct shapes at the town's edges.
