Te mapa
Punta Gorda Isles is a residential community on the south-west coast of Florida, beside Charlotte Harbor where the Peace River widens into the bay. From above, it has one of the most distinctive street patterns in the region. Narrow, dead-end canals are cut into the land like the teeth of a comb, each lined on both sides by roads and waterfront lots, and all of them open onto the harbour.
The canal system was dredged in the second half of the twentieth century to give as many homes as possible direct boat access to the Gulf of Mexico. On a Punta Gorda Isles map poster, the canals read as bold, parallel strokes of water with thin streets between them, and the rhythm looks almost like a musical score.
The community sits next to the older city of Punta Gorda, whose grid lies just to the east. Together they show two eras of Florida development side by side, a traditional town centre and a planned waterfront subdivision, both framed by the wide, calm surface of the harbour.
Long, straight canals extend inland from the harbour like the teeth of a comb, giving almost every house water frontage and the map a striking repeating pattern.
The broad harbour opens to the west and north. This wide expanse of water frames the neighbourhood and balances the dense canal network on the poster.
Narrow residential streets run between the canals and end in cul-de-sacs at the water, so the road network mirrors the canal system line for line.

For boaters, retirees and families who have made Punta Gorda Isles home, this map shows what makes the place special: water on almost every side. It is one of those rare neighbourhood maps that looks like abstract art.
Mark your street, your boat's name or the year you moved in using the custom title, subtitle and coordinates, then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint and Sand both suit a coastal home. The HD files are $9.
