Te mapa
Río Bueno is named after the river it overlooks, one of the larger rivers of southern Chile, which drains Lake Ranco and flows west toward the Pacific. The town stands on higher ground above a wide bend, and on a map the river draws a strong curve along its edge while the streets form a tidy grid on the plateau above.
The town grew around the Fuerte San José de Alcudia, a Spanish colonial fort built in the late eighteenth century to control the river crossing, and the site of the fort is still part of its identity. A Río Bueno map poster shows why the location mattered: high ground, a broad river below, and open farmland stretching out on every side.
The surrounding Los Ríos Region is green dairy and farming country, and that shows in the map as large field boundaries and scattered rural roads beyond the town edge. In black and white, the river's meander is the main feature, framing a small, regular street plan that looks calm and deliberate.
The Río Bueno swings in a broad curve past the town, and its wide channel is the most striking shape on the map, running from the lakes toward the sea.
The town began with an eighteenth-century Spanish fort placed above the river crossing, and that defensive logic still shows in the town's raised position.
Above the river, the streets settle into a regular colonial grid of square blocks that ends abruptly where the land drops toward the water.
