Te mapa
Saint-André sits on the flat eastern lowlands of Réunion, one of the few places on this volcanic island where the land stays level for any distance. From above, the town spreads more loosely than the steep western communes. Its streets fan out from a central core toward the coast on one side and the cane fields and rising slopes on the other.
The commune is known for its Tamil heritage. Families descended from indentured workers who came from South India in the nineteenth century have shaped its religious and cultural life, and Saint-André's Dipavali celebrations are among the best known on the island. Sugarcane still dominates the land around the town.
A Saint-André map poster shows the town between two strong edges: the dark line of the Indian Ocean coast to the east and the patchwork of fields that climbs toward the island's interior. The street network in between is irregular and relaxed, closer to rural lanes than an urban grid.
The eastern shore runs along the edge of the map as a long, gently curving line. Open water stretches toward the horizon beyond it.
Outside the centre, roads cut through sugarcane land in long straight strokes. Their thin, spacious pattern contrasts clearly with the denser town core.
To the west, the land lifts toward Réunion's volcanic heart. Streets grow sparse and follow the slope, which hints at the mountains just beyond the frame.

Koteā ko Saint-André
Saint-André is home for many families on Réunion and a place of return for others living in mainland France and beyond. A poster of its coast and streets makes a lasting reminder of the island's quieter eastern side.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps in French or Creole, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters ship from partners in more than thirty countries.
