Te mapa
Salcedo is the capital of Hermanas Mirabal province, in the Cibao region in the north of the Dominican Republic. The town sits in a fertile area of the valley, surrounded by farms and low hills, and on the map it appears as a regular grid of streets around a central square, with roads leading out toward neighbouring towns.
The province was renamed in 2007 in honour of the Mirabal sisters, who came from this area and were killed in 1960 for their opposition to the Trujillo dictatorship. Their story is commemorated nationally and internationally, and the house museum dedicated to them is located in the province.
Beyond the town, the Cibao landscape is green and cultivated, with small villages, fields and winding rural roads. A Salcedo map poster shows the ordered centre, the main routes crossing the valley and the gentle, varied terrain around it, a small town with a significant place in the country's memory.
The town is laid out in a regular pattern of streets around the main square, giving the centre a clear, orderly structure on the map.
Main roads lead out of town toward other Cibao towns, their lines connecting Salcedo to the broader network of the valley.
Fields, small villages and rural roads fill the land around the town, with low hills adding texture to the edges of the map.

Koteā ko Salcedo
For Dominicans with roots in the Cibao, and for anyone moved by the Mirabal sisters' story, a map of Salcedo carries personal meaning. Its tidy grid among green country also makes a calm poster.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps adding a family name or date. The map is available in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
