Te mapa
San Chaung lies in the Yangon Region of Myanmar, on the flat, well-watered land around the country's largest city. From above, water shapes the map as much as streets do. Creeks and channels wander across the ground, and roads and neighbourhoods are arranged around them instead of crossing them directly, so the plan has a soft, organic quality.
The street pattern mixes straight blocks with looser clusters of lanes, and open ground appears wherever building thins out. The land barely rises, so every line in the drawing comes from waterways or from human choices. No hills bend the roads, and none hold back the spread of neighbourhoods toward the surrounding countryside.
A San Chaung map poster works well as a study in quiet density: fine lanes, a few stronger roads, and the soft curves of watercourses weaving between them. In black and white the creeks read as pale ribbons through the grey mesh of streets, which gives the finished sheet a gentle, almost textile character.
Small waterways meander through the area. Their irregular curves contrast with the straighter lines of roads and residential blocks.
The land is almost level, so streets can run long and straight. The town's pattern depends on waterways, not on slopes or ridges.
Regular blocks sit beside clusters of narrow lanes. This creates a varied texture that looks different depending on how closely the map is framed.
