Te mapa
Santa Marta was founded in 1525 and is considered the oldest surviving Spanish-founded city in Colombia. Its historic centre is a regular grid on the shore of a sheltered bay, with a waterfront promenade along the sand and a port at the northern end. On a map, the neat squares of the old town and the curve of the bay form the core of the composition.
Right behind the city, the land rises into the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a mountain range that climbs from sea level to snow-capped peaks within a short distance. The map captures only its foothills, but even these create steep, empty areas that squeeze the city into a narrow band along the coast. To the south, El Rodadero forms a second, smaller bay district.
Simón Bolívar died in 1830 at the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, just outside the centre, now a museum and garden. To the east, the coast leads to Tayrona National Park, with its rocky coves and forest. A Santa Marta map poster brings together the colonial grid, the bay and the mountains on one sheet.

The city's bay forms a smooth curve of shoreline with a waterfront promenade, the main natural line of the whole composition.
Steep, largely empty slopes of the Sierra Nevada rise behind the city, leaving clean white space that pushes the streets towards the sea.

Koteā ko Santa Marta
Santa Marta is where many Colombians spend holidays and where travellers start trips to Tayrona and the Sierra. A map of the bay keeps those days close, framed simply and without postcard clichés.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a trip or wedding date, and the coordinates. Then choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand and Noir both suit the coast.
