Te mapa
Sanya sits at the southern tip of Hainan, and from above it looks less like one city than a series of bays strung along the coast. Sanya Bay faces west towards the open sea. Dadonghai curls around a smaller beach to the east, and Yalong Bay lies further along beyond the headlands. Between them, green ridges run down to the water and interrupt the street pattern.
The Sanya River cuts through the centre and widens into an estuary before it meets the sea, dividing the downtown into separate districts joined by bridges. South of the river mouth, the Luhuitou peninsula juts out like a hook around the harbour. Offshore lies Phoenix Island, a reclaimed island connected to the mainland by a single bridge. In fine black line work these shapes become the whole composition.
A Sanya map poster suits anyone who has spent a winter here, when the island draws visitors from colder parts of China looking for warmth. West of the centre, the city is also known for the 108-metre Guanyin statue at Nanshan, which stands on its own platform in the sea. Whether the frame shows only the downtown bays or the wider coast, the print is mostly water and ridge, with a thin ribbon of streets between them.

A reclaimed island in Sanya Bay, connected to the shore by one bridge. Its elongated, regular outline stands apart from the natural coastline and is easy to spot on the map.
A hilly headland south of the centre that shelters the harbour. Its green slopes carry few streets, so on a poster it shows as a quiet mass between two bodies of water.

Koteā ko Sanya
People hang Sanya on the wall to remember a winter escape, a honeymoon or a family holiday by the sea. The coastline does most of the design work, and the bays stay clear even at small sizes. Add a title, the dates of your trip or a line of coordinates to make it your own.
There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand suits the beaches especially well. The digital HD files cost $9 and cover six print sizes, or you can order a printed matte poster, with an optional wooden frame, from a print partner near you.
