Te mapa
Saratov occupies a broad bowl on the right bank of the Volga, with the river on one side and a crescent of hills on the others. From above, the central streets form a clear rectangular grid laid out in the nineteenth century, running down toward the embankment. Beyond the centre, districts spill into ravines and up the slopes, giving the outskirts a more irregular pattern.
Founded in 1590 as a fortress guarding the Volga trade route, the city became one of the major ports and university centres of the region. It also has a place in space history: Yuri Gagarin, who had studied at the local industrial college, landed in the Saratov region in 1961 after the first human orbital flight.
A Saratov map poster captures the scale of the Volga here, a wide band of water that dominates the frame, crossed by the road bridge to Engels on the left bank. Against it sit the dense city blocks, the green slopes of the surrounding hills and the long embankment, rendered as clean black lines on a pale ground.
Opened in 1965, the road bridge stretches for nearly three kilometres across the Volga to Engels, drawing a single straight stroke across the widest part of the poster.
The historic centre is a regular pattern of long parallel streets and cross streets, with the pedestrian Kirov Avenue running through it toward the theatre square.
Sokolovaya Gora and the other heights around the city break the grid into curving roads and wooded slopes, visible on the map as softer, winding lines.

Koteā ko Saratov
Saratov is a city people leave for study or work and keep returning to in their thoughts, often picturing the river first. A map with the Volga at its centre is a calm, honest reminder of home, of student years or of a family story tied to the region.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a year or a street name, and pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD download includes six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files.
