Te mapa
Sasmuan lies in the province of Pampanga on the northern edge of Manila Bay. Its map is mostly water: rivers and tidal channels wind through the municipality, and much of the land is divided into fishponds, whose rectangular walls form a striking grid. The town centre sits on firmer ground, with settlements strung along the waterways.
Sasmuan is one of the oldest towns in Pampanga and has long lived from fishing and aquaculture. Its coastal wetlands, the Sasmuan Pampanga Coastal Wetlands, were designated a Ramsar site in 2021 because of their importance for migratory waterbirds. The mudflats and mangroves at the edge of the bay are part of that protected area.
A Sasmuan map poster is unusual among town maps. Rather than a street grid, it shows a landscape of channels, pond walls and shoreline, with the town set within it. The effect is almost abstract, and very recognisable to anyone from the delta.
Large rectangular fishponds cover much of the municipality. Their embankments create a strong geometric pattern that dominates the map.
Rivers and tidal creeks meander through the town and the ponds toward Manila Bay, giving the poster its flowing, irregular lines.
The coastal mudflats and mangroves on the bay are a Ramsar wetland, an important stop for migratory birds on the edge of the map.

Koteā ko Sasmuan
Sasmuan appeals to Kapampangan families, birdwatchers and anyone who likes maps where water is the main subject. The pattern of ponds and channels makes a striking design even for people who have never been there.
Add a family name, a barangay or coordinates to the title lines. Blueprint emphasises the waterways, while Classic, Noir, Paper and Sand bring out the pond geometry in different ways.
