Te mapa
Sebastian lies on Florida's Atlantic side, in Indian River County. It faces the Indian River Lagoon rather than the open ocean. A barrier island across the lagoon shields it from the sea. On a map the town begins at a long road along the shore, and the lagoon forms a wide band across its eastern edge.
Inland, the city spreads west in a large, regular subdivision of curving streets, cul-de-sacs and drainage canals planned in the second half of the twentieth century. The Sebastian River flows through the north of the city into the lagoon. A municipal airport forms a distinctive geometric shape among the residential blocks.
Just north of the town, Pelican Island became the first national wildlife refuge in the United States in 1903. Sebastian Inlet, further north, is known for surfing and fishing. A Sebastian map poster shows the lagoon, the river and the street grid together, giving a clear picture of how the town meets the water.
The lagoon forms the eastern edge of the town, a broad stretch of water separating Sebastian from the barrier island and the Atlantic beyond.
A road follows the lagoon shore and traces the town's eastern edge. It links waterfront parks, marinas and the older part of Sebastian.
West of the shore, a vast pattern of curving residential streets and canals fills the map. This planned layout gives the poster much of its texture.

Koteā ko Sebastian
Sebastian maps are popular with retirees, anglers, surfers who know the inlet, and families who spent winters on this quieter stretch of Florida's Atlantic coast. The lagoon shoreline gives the poster a clean, calm edge.
