Te mapa
Sento Sé lies in the north of Bahia, on the shore of the Sobradinho reservoir, one of the largest artificial lakes in the world by surface area. The reservoir was formed on the São Francisco river in the 1970s. On the map the water spreads as a huge, irregular sheet, and the town appears as a small, neat grid on its edge.
The present town is a replacement. The original Sento Sé stood on lower ground by the river and was flooded when the dam was built, so its residents were moved to a new, planned site. That history explains the town's regular layout, very different from the organic growth of older river settlements in the region.
A Sento Sé map poster shows the planned streets, the long shoreline of the reservoir and the open, lightly marked caatinga stretching away inland. The combination of a precise town plan and a vast body of water gives the print an unusual sense of scale and stillness.
The lake formed by damming the São Francisco spreads across the map as a broad expanse of water, its shoreline indented by inlets whose outline shifts as water levels rise and fall.
Rebuilt after the flooding of the old town, Sento Sé follows an orderly street plan that reads as a compact, regular block on the edge of the water.
Inland, the dry thorn scrub of the sertão is crossed by only a few roads and tracks, leaving wide quiet areas that give the composition room to breathe.

Koteā ko Sento Sé
For families who remember the old town beneath the water, or who have built their lives in the new one, Sento Sé carries a story few places share. A map poster keeps both the lake and the town in view in one calm image.
Add your own title and a subtitle, perhaps a year or a family name, and adjust the date and coordinates line. The poster is available in five styles, Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, with Blueprint bringing out the reservoir shoreline especially clearly.
