Sevan is a town in the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia, on the north-western shore of Lake Sevan. The lake is one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world, lying roughly 1,900 metres above sea level. Near the town, a narrow peninsula runs out into the water. On it stands Sevanavank, a medieval monastery that is one of Armenia's best-known sights.
The peninsula was originally an island. In the Soviet era, water from Lake Sevan was drawn off for irrigation and hydropower, and the lake level dropped by about twenty metres. The island became joined to the shore. From above, the town's streets lie on gently rising ground behind the shoreline. Main roads follow the lake toward the resorts and connect north-west toward Yerevan.
A Sevan map poster centres on the meeting of town and water. The shoreline curves around the peninsula, the lake stretches out as a wide, calm field and the street grid sits behind it. The lake's vast surface leaves a large area of open space, which gives the composition a quiet, high-altitude clarity.

The vast lake fills a large part of the frame as a broad, calm surface. It gives the composition a strong sense of space and a clean edge.
Roads follow the edge of the lake and lead inland toward Yerevan. Their smooth curves trace the outline of the lake shore.
