Te mapa
Shirahama is a resort town on the western coast of the Kii Peninsula in Wakayama Prefecture. On the map the town spreads over a small, irregular peninsula with a deeply indented coastline, with coves, headlands and rocky shores all close together. The name means white beach, after the Shirarahama beach, a curve of pale sand facing a sheltered bay.
Shirahama is one of Japan's oldest hot-spring towns, and bathhouses and ryokan are spread along the shore. Along the coast are the Sandanbeki cliffs, where the sea has worn caves into the rock, and Engetsu, a small island with a natural arch. The town also has an airport and Adventure World, a park known for its giant pandas.
A Shirahama map poster traces an intricate coast full of detail: bays and points, the white beach, the offshore islets and the roads threading between wooded hills. The streets follow the water closely, so the town's shape is defined by the shoreline, and the resulting print feels light and open.

Cliffs, coves and small headlands line the peninsula. They make the shore detailed and irregular, with water reaching into the land at many points.
Just offshore, a small island with a natural arch sits in the sea. On the map it is one of several islets scattered off the coast.

Koteā ko Shirahama
Shirahama is a place of holidays, onsen evenings and walks along the cliffs. A map poster keeps that coastline close, whether you visited once or return every year. It suits a quiet room where a sense of the sea is welcome.
You can personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps in Japanese or English, add a date, and edit the coordinates line. Choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Paper gives the coast the look of a fine print.
