Te mapa
Smila lies in Cherkasy Oblast, south-west of the regional capital, in the forest-steppe of central Ukraine. On the map, the town is organised around the Tiasmyn River, which crosses it in wide bends and forms ponds and marshy stretches along the way. The neighbourhoods on either bank are joined by a small number of crossings, so the river divides the plan clearly.
The railway is the other big structure. Smila grew into an important junction, and its tracks and yards cut long straight lines through the town, very different from the river curves. Between them sit residential streets, a mix of older low-rise blocks and later housing estates with their own separate layouts.
Smila also has a long industrial history. Sugar refining was the best-known part of it, as it was across the beet-growing lands of central Ukraine. A Smila map poster brings together what shaped the town: a winding river, a railway meeting point, and the streets that grew up between the two, all in clean black lines.
The river runs through Smila in broad loops, widening into ponds in places. It is the most expressive line on the poster and divides the town in two.
Tracks come in from several directions and meet in long yards. On paper they read as bundles of straight, parallel lines across the street network.
Older streets near the centre sit next to later estates with their own geometry, so the texture of the map changes noticeably from one district to another.

Koteā ko Smila
For people who grew up in Smila or have family there, the river and the railway are easy to recognise. A map like this keeps a hometown close, especially at a distance.
You can personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a year or a street name, and adjust the coordinates line. There are five styles to choose from: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
