Solânea sits in the interior of Paraíba, in the northeast of Brazil, where the coastal plain gives way to higher, broken country. From above, the town reads as a tight core of streets packed onto rising ground, with roads leaving it in several directions toward neighbouring towns and the surrounding farms.
The street pattern is not a strict grid. Blocks bend to follow the terrain, some longer and straighter along the main approaches, others shorter where the ground dips or climbs.
