Te mapa
Solihull lies southeast of Birmingham, and from above it looks noticeably greener than its neighbour. The town centre is compact, with Touchwood and the old high street at its core, and residential areas spread out along curving roads and avenues with large gardens. Parks such as Malvern and Brueton Parks form green spaces near the centre, and the M42 runs along the eastern edge.
Solihull is known as the home of Land Rover, built at the Lode Lane plant since 1948, now part of Jaguar Land Rover. Birmingham Airport and the National Exhibition Centre lie within the borough, near the motorway. Beyond them, the land opens into the countryside of the Meriden Gap, which separates Birmingham from Coventry.
A Solihull map poster shows the town's structure clearly: the dense centre, the softer pattern of suburban streets, the large blocks of parks and the industrial site, and the straight lines of the motorway and railway. In black and white, it becomes a detailed, well-balanced image of a Midlands town.
Malvern and Brueton Parks form a green corridor close to the town centre, appearing as open areas on the map that contrast with the surrounding streets.
The large Jaguar Land Rover site appears as a distinct block within the town, a reminder of the car industry that has shaped Solihull since 1948.
The motorway runs along the eastern side, linking the airport and the NEC and marking a clear edge between the town and the countryside beyond.
