Te mapa
South Windsor is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, on the east bank of the Connecticut River. It was part of the colonial settlement of Windsor, and its history reaches back to the seventeenth century. The theologian Jonathan Edwards was born in the area that is now South Windsor, and old houses still line its historic Main Street.
From above, the town divides into distinct zones. Along the river, Main Street runs north to south, and the long, narrow farm lots of the colonial period still extend back from it toward the water. The river meadows are wide and flat, and some are still farmed, a reminder of the area's long tradition of growing tobacco.
A South Windsor map poster shows those layers together. There is the historic spine beside the river, the open meadows, and the curving suburban streets and cul-de-sacs added to the east in the twentieth century. In black and white, the contrast between the farmland and the suburbs is especially clear.

Wide, flat farmland borders the Connecticut River on the western side of town. It shows as open space between Main Street and the water.
East of the old centre, twentieth-century neighbourhoods follow looping streets and cul-de-sacs. They make a softer pattern than the colonial layout.
