Te mapa
North Stamford is the quieter, greener part of Stamford, Connecticut, stretching north of the Merritt Parkway toward the New York state line. On a map it looks entirely different from the dense downtown to the south: roads bend and curve around hills and streams, lots are large, and much of the land is wooded.
Reservoirs and waterways give the area its character. The Mianus River runs along the western side, and the North Stamford Reservoir and other bodies of water appear as irregular shapes among the roads. Long country lanes connect small clusters of houses, and there is no central grid, only a loose network that follows the terrain.
The Stamford Museum and Nature Center, with its farm and trails, is one of the area's best-known destinations. A North Stamford map poster suits the neighbourhood's open, organic layout, where lines of road and water sit among a lot of white space rather than a tight urban pattern.
Instead of a grid, long curving roads follow ridges and valleys, creating a loose, hand-drawn look across the whole map.
The North Stamford Reservoir and the Mianus River add irregular shapes of water that anchor the composition among the woods.
The historic parkway runs across the southern edge, a smooth curve that separates North Stamford from the denser city below.
