Te mapa
Bridgeport sits on the shore of Long Island Sound and is the largest city in Connecticut. Its map is organised around the harbour, where the Pequonnock River meets the sea. The downtown grid lies on one side of the water and the East Side on the other. Interstate 95 and the rail line run close to the shore and draw parallel lines through the city.
P. T. Barnum, the showman, lived here and served as mayor, and he helped bring about Seaside Park, a long waterfront park on the Sound. The city's nickname, the Park City, reflects its many green spaces, including Beardsley Park to the north. Industry grew along the harbour and rivers and left large blocks of factory land among the residential streets.
A Bridgeport map poster shows how closely the city is tied to the water: the jagged harbour, the long shoreline park, the breakwaters and inlets. It is a fitting print for people who grew up in its neighbourhoods, for its students and graduates, and for anyone who likes maps where coast and street grid meet in a clear line.

A long band of parkland follows the shore of Long Island Sound. Its beaches and lawns separate the city's streets from open water.
Interstate 95 and the railway run through the city close to the coast. They form broad lines that cut across the older street grid.
