Te mapa
Taftan lies in western Balochistan, on Pakistan's border with Iran, opposite the Iranian town of Mirjaveh. It takes its name from the Taftan volcano, which rises on the Iranian side. The map shows a compact settlement in a huge, empty landscape of desert plains and low hills, with very little between it and the horizon in any direction.
The town exists because of the crossing. The main road from Quetta and the railway line that continues to Zahedan both pass through here, and the map is organised around these long, straight corridors. Trade and transit shape the layout, and most streets sit close to the transport lines rather than spreading out into the desert.
Taftan is a key point on the overland route between South Asia and Iran, used by traders, pilgrims and travellers. A Taftan map poster captures a place defined by movement: a small grid in the desert, held in place by a road and a railway that run straight on toward the border.
The international boundary with Iran runs right beside the town. It is the reason Taftan exists and the point where road and railway leave Pakistan.
The highway from Quetta and the rail line toward Zahedan cut long, straight strokes across the desert, the strongest lines on the entire map.
Open, largely empty desert stretches in every direction. It leaves wide white space around the town and shows how small and isolated the settlement is.

Koteā ko Taftan
For people who have worked at the crossing, travelled the overland route or grown up in the town, Taftan means more than its size suggests. A map poster turns a remote border post into a striking, minimal image of a place where two countries meet.
Write your own title, add a subtitle with a date or route, and keep the coordinates line. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, suit the stark layout. Every file comes without a watermark in six print sizes.
