Te mapa
Tak Bai is a district town in Narathiwat, the southernmost province on Thailand's east coast. Its map is defined by water. The Kolok river, which forms the border with Malaysia along this stretch, reaches the Gulf of Thailand nearby, and the land around the town is laced with channels, low wet ground and a long sandy shore.
The town centre is small, with streets arranged close to the river and roads leading toward the coast and the border crossing. Across the water lies the Malaysian state of Kelantan, and movement between the two banks has long been part of local life. Tak Bai is also known for Wat Chonthara Sing He, a temple whose history is tied to the border region.
A Tak Bai map poster frames the meeting of river, sea and frontier in a single image: the curve of the Kolok, the straight coastline, and the compact town between them. It is a place defined by its edges, and those edges make a strong, clear composition.
The Kolok widens as it approaches the Gulf of Thailand, and its final curves, with the international border following the channel, form the dominant line on the map.
A long, straight sandy shore runs along the eastern side of the district, giving the poster a clean edge between land and open water.
The streets of the town sit close to the river, with roads leading off toward the coast and the crossing into Malaysia.
