Te mapa
Takoma Park lies in Montgomery County, Maryland, right against the northern boundary of Washington, D.C. It began in the 1880s as one of the capital's first railroad suburbs, laid out near the Metropolitan Branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The station area, now served by the Metro Red Line at Takoma, still marks the city's link with the District on the map.
Unlike the grid of the District next door, Takoma Park's streets bend and branch with the rolling ground and the stream valleys. Sligo Creek runs through the city in a long green corridor of parkland. The older neighbourhoods around Carroll Avenue keep a dense pattern of small lots and tree-lined streets. At the D.C. boundary, the street pattern changes abruptly.
A Takoma Park map poster suits a community with a strong sense of identity. The city is known for going its own way. It declared itself a nuclear-free zone in 1983, and in 2013 it became the first American city to let sixteen-year-olds vote in local elections. On the map, it shows up as a green, self-contained patch beside the capital.

The historic centre around Carroll Avenue and the railroad has the densest street pattern in town, with small blocks laid out during the early suburban era.
Along Eastern Avenue the city meets Washington, D.C. The map shows the contrast between the District's straight streets and Takoma Park's curving ones.

Koteā ko Takoma Park
Takoma Park residents tend to be attached to their neighbourhoods, and a map is a natural way to show it. It marks a first home, a long stay or a move away from the area, and it suits the city's older houses with their deep porches.
Add a street name, a household name or a date to the title and subtitle, and keep or edit the coordinates. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Printed posters ship from partners in 30+ countries, with an optional wooden frame.
