Te mapa
Tecumseh is a town in Essex County, Ontario, directly east of Windsor, and its northern edge follows the shore of Lake St. Clair. On a map the built-up area is densest near the water, where residential streets and short blocks run down to the lakefront. Further south the pattern opens into a broad agricultural grid.
That grid comes from the survey system used across southwestern Ontario. It gives the drawing long, straight concession roads and side roads that cross at regular intervals. Creeks and drains cut through the fields toward the lake and add thin, meandering lines to the otherwise measured layout of the surrounding countryside.
The town is named after Tecumseh, the Shawnee leader who allied with the British during the War of 1812. A Tecumseh map poster shows a community shaped by two forces at once: the soft, irregular line of the lakeshore and the ruled geometry of farmland that reaches all the way to the edge of Windsor.
The northern boundary is the lakeshore itself. Its gentle curve of water gives the poster a strong horizontal edge against the tight residential streets behind it.
South of the town centre, straight rural roads divide the land into large rectangles. Reduced to black lines, this surveyed pattern looks almost architectural.
Small creeks and drains run north through farmland and suburbs to the lake. Their soft curves cross the grid and link the inland fields to the shoreline.

Koteā ko Tecumseh
Tecumseh is home for many people who work in Windsor or across the river in Detroit, and for families who have spent summers by the lake. A map of the town holds both the neighbourhood and the shoreline, which makes it a grounded, personal piece for a living room or cottage.
You can add your own title and subtitle, perhaps a street name or the year you moved in, and adjust the coordinates line. There are five styles to choose from, including Blueprint and Sand. Download the $9 HD files to print at home, or order a framed poster printed by a partner near you.
