Te mapa
Teófilo Otoni lies in northeastern Minas Gerais, in the basin of the Mucuri River. The city was founded in the mid-nineteenth century by the politician and entrepreneur Teófilo Benedito Ottoni as part of a colonisation project that brought European settlers, many of them German, to the region. Their influence remains in family names and some local traditions.
The terrain is hilly, and the map shows it clearly. The Todos os Santos River runs through the city, and the central streets follow its course before breaking into the surrounding slopes, where roads twist to find a manageable gradient. Neighbourhoods fill the valleys between hills, producing a pattern of dense fingers separated by steeper, greener ground.
Teófilo Otoni is best known as a centre of the gemstone trade, with dealers in aquamarine, tourmaline and other stones drawn from mines across the region. A Teófilo Otoni map poster reduces the city to its lines of river, road and hill, a clear view of a regional hub set among the rolling country of the Mucuri.
The river runs through the centre, setting the direction of the main streets and forming a clear axis from which the rest of the city spreads outward.
Residential areas climb the slopes around the centre, their roads bending sharply, so the edges of the map look like branches rather than a regular grid.
Around the older centre, where shops and gem dealers cluster, the blocks are tighter and more regular, giving the heart of the city a denser texture.

Collectors and traders in gemstones know Teófilo Otoni by name, and people from the Mucuri Valley know it as home. Its river and hills make a map that feels specific to this corner of Minas Gerais.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a family name or the year you arrived, and adjust the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the print-ready files or order a matte poster, framed if you prefer.
