Te mapa
Tibau do Sul sits on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte, south of Natal, at the point where the Guaraíras lagoon drains into the Atlantic. From above, the main town takes up a narrow headland between the calm lagoon and the open sea. The lagoon spreads inland as a broad, irregular sheet of water, and its shoreline is worn into small inlets and sandbanks.
To the south, the municipality includes Praia da Pipa, one of the best-known beach villages in northeastern Brazil. Pipa's streets are drawn along the top of the cliffs, with a few paths going down to crescent beaches. One of these beaches is Baía dos Golfinhos, a bay known for the dolphins that often swim close to shore. The coastline between the headlands is a series of curves.
A Tibau do Sul map poster brings all of this together: the lagoon mouth, the headland town, the chain of bays and the small grid of Pipa. Printed in fine line, the water surfaces carry most of the weight, and the streets become a delicate lace along the edge of the land.
The lagoon takes up a large part of the map, a wide body of water with ragged edges that meets the ocean right beside the town of Tibau do Sul.
The village of Pipa has short streets along a clifftop, with paths that lead down to the beaches. It forms a compact cluster at the southern end of the coastline.
Between the headlands, the shore curves into a run of crescent beaches, among them the dolphin bay. Each one reads as a clean arc against the Atlantic.

Koteā ko Tibau do Sul
This is a map for anyone who has watched the sunset over the lagoon or spent a summer in Pipa. Its outline, where lagoon, cliffs and sea meet, is easy to recognise and keeps its memories without any photograph.
