Tiflet is on the plateau east of Rabat, along the main route toward Khemisset and Meknes. From above the town is a compact shape on open farmland. The main road and the motorway nearby run east to west through the region, and the town's streets gather on both sides of the old highway.
The area around Tiflet has long been farming country, home to Amazigh communities of the Zemmour tribal region. Weekly markets draw people from the surrounding countryside, and the town serves as a local centre for trade and services.
