Trento is a municipality in the province of Agusan del Sur on Mindanao, near the provincial border with the Davao region. It shares its name with the Italian city, but the landscape could hardly be more different. From above, the town centre is a small, compact cluster of streets on flat lowland, with the national road running straight through it.
That highway is the main line connecting Davao with the Agusan and Caraga provinces further north. The town's layout follows it closely. Around the town, the map is filled with farmland and plantations divided into large parcels, crossed by creeks and small rivers draining north toward the Agusan basin.

The town proper is a small grid of blocks close to the highway. It forms a dense knot at the middle of a much larger rural municipality.
