Te mapa
Tupiza lies in the far south of Bolivia's Potosí department, at about 2,900 metres, in a valley cut by the Tupiza river. A regular grid of streets fills the flat valley floor. On a map its edges are sharply drawn by the steep, eroded hills on either side. Almost everything about the town's shape follows the line of the valley.
Red rock formations, canyons and dry riverbeds surround the town and have made Tupiza a base for hiking, horse riding and jeep trips toward the Salar de Uyuni. The area is also linked to the last days of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. They robbed a mining payroll nearby in 1908, shortly before their deaths in the village of San Vicente.
A Tupiza map poster reduces this dramatic setting to its essentials: the tight town grid, the broad line of the river, the railway, and the roads that squeeze out of the valley to the north and south. In black and white, the edges of the streets suggest the shape of the land.
The town's regular blocks fill the narrow valley bottom, forming a long band of streets bounded by steep slopes on both sides.
The river runs along the town in a wide, often braided channel. Its broad pale band is the main natural line on the map.
The railway between Uyuni and the Argentine border passes through Tupiza, adding a long, steady line that follows the valley.

Koteā ko Tupiza
Tupiza maps appeal to Bolivians from the south of the country and to travellers who began or ended a Salar de Uyuni journey here. The long valley shape makes an unusual composition, especially in a portrait format.
Add your own title and a subtitle with the date of your trip, and keep or edit the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Then download the $9 HD files or order a matte printed poster with an optional frame.
