Te mapa
Uozu lies on the eastern shore of Toyama Bay, on the Sea of Japan coast of central Honshu. The city occupies a narrow coastal plain. Its streets follow the shoreline, and the land rises quickly inland toward the Tateyama range of the Northern Alps. Rivers fed by mountain snowmelt cross the plain to the sea and divide the map into distinct sections.
Uozu is known for two unusual natural sights. In spring, mirages sometimes appear over Toyama Bay and distort the distant coastline, and the city is one of the best places to see them. The bay is also famous for firefly squid, which glow blue when they gather near the shore. An ancient buried forest, discovered during harbour works, is preserved in a local museum.
A Uozu map poster sets the clean arc of the coast against the rivers, rail lines and dense residential grid of the plain. The harbour, the long seawall and the rising ground behind all show clearly in black and white. It is a fitting choice for anyone who has waited on the shore for a mirage or watched the squid glow in the bay.
The coastline curves gently along the seaward side of the city, with harbours and seawalls forming precise lines against the open water of the bay.
Rivers coming down from the Northern Alps cross the plain to the bay, cutting the city into sections and adding strong diagonal lines to the map.
Between sea and mountains, streets and rail lines run in long bands parallel to the shore and produce a layered, orderly composition.

Koteā ko Uozu
Uozu appeals to people who value quiet coastal places with a strong sense of season. A map of the city recalls spring evenings on the bay, the view toward the mountains and the rhythm of a small harbour town.
Personalise the title, add the date of a visit or a line about your connection to the city, and choose one of five styles. Noir suits the night-time glow of the squid season. The HD files cost $9, and printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
