Te mapa
Upplands Väsby sits between Stockholm and Arlanda, and from above its structure is easy to read. The railway and the E4 motorway run north to south through the middle, close together. Most of the town is built on either side of that corridor: housing estates, business parks and school grounds, set among patches of woodland.
The town grew up around a station on the line between Stockholm and Uppsala. Its layout still follows that origin. Streets lead toward the station, and newer neighbourhoods have spread out along the lines of travel. On the southern edge the built-up area meets the water, and residential streets curve along the lake shore.
In print, a Upplands Väsby map poster shows a clear contrast. Straight transport lines run through the centre, while the small curving loops of suburban streets surround them. Around the edges, the grey streets give way to forest and field, which gives a sense of how close the countryside is to the town's rail-side core.
The railway and the E4 run side by side through the town. They form the strongest lines on the map, and everything else is arranged around them.
To the south, the streets reach down to the water. Their tighter, curving pattern stands apart from the straighter blocks near the station.
Woodland and farmland frame the built-up area on several sides. On the poster these show as calm white space around the network of streets.
