Vaukavysk, also written Volkovysk, is one of the older towns in western Belarus. It lies in the Grodno region, in the valley of the small Ros river. From above, the centre is a modest knot of streets near the river, surrounded by low-rise apartment blocks, private houses with long garden plots, and industrial areas along the railway. Fields and woodland take over quickly at the edges.
The town is known for its hillfort, an earthwork mound locally called the Swedish Hill, which marks the site of the early medieval settlement that the town grew from. Vaukavysk is also a railway junction, and its tracks sweep across the plan in wide curves that divide the districts and draw some of the strongest lines on the map.
A Vaukavysk map poster brings these layers together: the green shape of the old mound, the soft line of the river valley, and the harder geometry of rail yards and postwar housing. It is a quiet, understated design that suits someone with family ties to the Grodno region, or a clear memory of a childhood spent in the town.

The small Ros river and its low valley run through the town, bringing meadows and open ground into the urban fabric and softening the street pattern around it.
As a rail junction, Vaukavysk is crossed by several lines. Their long curves and sidings cut clean arcs across the town and separate its residential and industrial districts.

Maps of smaller hometowns often mean more than maps of capitals, because they hold the specific streets of someone's life. For people from Vaukavysk, the river, the old mound and the railway are familiar landmarks that need no explanation.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be personalised, whether in the local spelling, the Russian form or with a family date. Choose from five styles and order HD files for $9, or a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
