Te mapa
Vero Beach, the county seat of Indian River County on Florida's Atlantic coast, is split into two parts by the Indian River Lagoon. On the mainland, the older town spreads out in a regular grid of numbered streets and avenues. Across the water, the barrier island carries the beachfront, with a long, narrow pattern of roads running parallel to the sea.
From above, the lagoon is the key feature: a broad band of water dotted with small islands and mangrove edges, crossed by causeway bridges. On the ocean side, the coastline is a nearly straight line, while the lagoon side is ragged with inlets, canals and residential fingers of land built out into the water.
A Vero Beach map poster places these layers side by side: the tidy mainland grid, the lagoon, the island and the Atlantic beyond it. The area gave its name to Indian River citrus, and for six decades the Los Angeles Dodgers held spring training at Dodgertown here. The map shows a town shaped equally by agriculture and the sea.

A slim strip of land faces the Atlantic, its roads running north–south in long parallel lines beside a clean, almost straight coastline.
Bridges over the lagoon link mainland and island, clear diagonal and horizontal strokes connecting the two halves of the town.
