Te mapa
West Albany covers the western part of the Albany area, away from the Hudson River and the dense older neighbourhoods near downtown. The map here is suburban: residential streets, curving subdivisions, commercial strips along main roads and large institutional campuses. Major routes lead west from the centre of the capital and structure the area.
Farther west lies the Albany Pine Bush, one of the largest remaining inland pine barrens in the United States, a landscape of sandy dunes and scrub pine protected as a preserve. Its open spaces appear on a map as a large area without streets, contrasting with the built-up neighbourhoods around it.
A West Albany map poster shows the quieter, residential side of New York's capital, with its mix of older streets, postwar subdivisions and green spaces. In a minimalist style, the network of roads and the open ground of the preserve create a balanced design, suited to anyone who lives or grew up here.
The protected pine barrens to the west form a large open area on the map, a rare inland dune landscape set between suburban roads and neighbourhoods.
Main roads run west from central Albany through the area, lined with shops and offices, and give the map its main structure of long parallel lines.
Residential subdivisions with curving streets and cul-de-sacs fill much of the area, contrasting with the straight grid of the older city closer to the Hudson.
